Heidi L. Garvis, BS, CMC
Co-Owner
Heidi, a Certified Care Manager with a degree in Human Services, has been dedicated to supporting older adults and their families since 2006. She has guided hundreds of families in planning care within senior housing communities and aging-in-place settings. Heidi specializes in creating Aging Life Care® Planning Reports and assisting with Senior Housing Searches. She finds fulfillment in her role as an Aging Life Care® Manager, combining her passions for helping others and educating them about care options. "It’s a privilege to help adult children and older adults navigate, plan, and carry out the necessary tasks to enhance their quality of life. The work is incredibly rewarding," Heidi says. If you reach out to Caring Considerations for the first time, Heidi will likely be your first point of contact. She will walk you through the range of services available, ensuring a personalized care plan. Heidi, a former Board Member of Senior Services of Alexandria (SSA), actively volunteers to give back to the community. She is also an Advanced Professional Member of the Aging Life Care™ Association. Residing in Manassas, Heidi enjoys watercolor painting, travel, sightseeing, and entertaining.
Debbie Aggen, RN, CMC, CDP
Co-Owner
Debbie brings over 30 years of nursing expertise to her role, with a deep commitment to her clients' health and well-being through comprehensive RN care management. Her diverse experience spans hospital care, long-term care, and home health, making her a versatile and compassionate advocate for her clients.
Debbie’s journey in caregiving took on a deeply personal dimension when she cared for her mother, who battled Alzheimer’s for over seven years while living in long-distance, long-term care communities. This experience gave Debbie profound insight into the challenges, emotions, and complexities that families face when caring for a loved one. She embodies the belief that “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care,” a philosophy that guides her approach to care management.
Outside of her professional life, Debbie enjoys spending time with her family and dogs, exploring the outdoors through hiking, and actively participating in her faith community. A proud resident of Falls Church, Debbie is a Professional Member of the Aging Life Care™ Association, a Care Manager Certified, and a Certified Dementia Practitioner.
Our Care Managers
Karla Hibbs, M.Ed., CMC, CDP
Karla is very knowledgeable about older adults and their families. Starting in 1998, she worked at an Erickson Living Community with over a thousand retirement living residents in a variety of capacities, including being the Director of Resident Life . Karla managed different facets of healthcare, home support, certified home health, social work, hospice, fitness, social engagement, and memory care programing. Karla brought her expertise and compassion to Caring Considerations in 2016, with the belief that all seniors deserve a vibrant, independent life and quality care no matter where they chose to live. Karla is a Certified Care Manager accredited by the National Academy of Certified Care Managers and a Certified Dementia Professional (CDP). Karla is very involved in her faith-based community and she and her family live in Burke.
Sara Roades, MHSA CMC
After receiving her Master’s degree in Health Services Administration (MHSA) from George Washington University, Sara worked in the field of strategic and financial planning for large healthcare organizations for eight years. Through her work, Sara discovered that her true passion is working with seniors and helping them navigate the complicated medical system. Sara joined Caring Considerations in 2017 and embraces the idea of getting to know each client as a person, and tailoring Aging Life Care ™ for their needs and individualized situations. Sara has been a tireless volunteer in her community supporting her four children with their education and activities. She is an outstanding researcher for the entitlements her clients deserve. Sara is an Advanced Professional Member of the Aging Life Care™ Association and is a Certified Care Manager (CMC). Sara is also a Notary and resides in Vienna.
Roberta “Bobi” Baer, RN, BSN
Bobi is a native of Washington DC and studied nursing at the University of North Carolina. She has been a Registered Nurse for over 30 years in various environments including hospital surgery and home health. Bobi worked the last 20 years with older adults and truly enjoys learning about their life history. Bobi says, “I have great respect for all older adults and my passion is to help them feel the best that they can.” Her caring philosophy is to listen and consider the big picture to provide holistic solutions that will benefit the whole person—not just help cure an ailment. Bobi’s compassionate approach to everything in her life includes raising a family of five boys, helping her aging parents and many years of experience volunteering in her local school system. Bobi lives in Falls Church.
Carla is a retired Navy primary care physician as well as a licensed health and wellness coach. From her clinical experience, Carla has special expertise in observing and determining the best person-centered direction to ensure safety, health, and well-being. Carla also understands the monumental tasks and stresses that fall on the shoulders of family caregivers. Her experience with her father’s decline through the devastating and progressive illness, ALS, gave her unique insight into the caregiving challenges of chronic disease management.
The Loudoun Medical Reserve Corps has been one of Carla’s passions during the recent pandemic. She worked to connect older adults and others to the appropriate resources. Through this work, she began to recognize Aging Life Care™ Management as a next step career. Carla believes that each successive stage in life requires new skills and perspective to flourish, and she is passionate about assisting her clients through any challenges they face in order to provide them their best quality of life. She believes in treating others with respect as complete individuals with their own history, narrative, and cultural identity and in taking any measures necessary to preserve their dignity. Carla is mother to four grown children and has resided in Northern Virginia for the last 16 years. She enjoys reading, running, traveling, gardening, and volunteering in her church.
Diane Richardson RN- Gerontological Nursing, Board Certified, CDP
Diane is passionate about helping people age with confidence. She has a holistic approach to care that addresses the body, mind and spirit. She brings years of experience in home care and helps with promoting wellness and client centered care for older adults. Diane's insight and experience has improved the quality of life for all her clients and their families. She is an excellent advocate for her clients in order to discover root causes of health issues. Diane is a Certified Dementia Practioner (CDP) and has a Board Certification in Gerontological Nursing. She enjoys being a part of the team at Caring Considerations. Diane has five children and enjoys gardening, Bible study and spending time with her family.
Julie is a native Virginian who graduated from Virginia Tech with a BS in Human Services. Julie worked as a counselor in Arlington then went on to earn her nursing degree in 2000. She has been a Registered Nurse for 22 years including a leave while raising a family of four children and taking care of her aging parents in their home. Her passion is fitness and living the best life, especially for the elderly population. Julie’s latest job was in a Centreville medical practice that offered functional medicine with a holistic approach to wellness. The majority of the patients were older adults. Her experience in the practice gave her perspective on medication management, nutrition, health and well-being and how it affects an older adult’s lifestyle while focusing on the highest quality of care. Julie has consistently advocated for the best quality of life, beginning with her first job in high school at an assisted living facility in Fairfax. Besides working with the elderly Julie enjoys running, coed recreational sports, friendships, gardening, and travel.
Born in Washington D.C and raised in McLean, Maureen is proud to be a true local Northern Virginian. After receiving a dual degree in Spanish & Government from the College of William & Mary, Maureen discovered that nursing was her true calling. She subsequently obtained a bachelor’s in nursing from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in health science management from George Mason University. Out of the classroom, her 25-year nursing career has spanned cardiac intensive care, nursing management, clinical research, and most recently, case management for low-income individuals living with chronic disease. Maureen has developed a creative and solutions-oriented approach from her various professional roles. She loves living in Alexandria City with her husband, two children and two ill-behaved dogs. As a committed public-school advocate, Maureen has served in numerous PTA leadership roles and has developed multiple initiatives to strengthen family engagement in her children's schools. Outside her professional and volunteer hours, Maureen enjoys hiking, kayaking and cuddling with her dogs.
Hebe Zweigel, MD Care Manager Assistant
Hebe is a retired Medical Doctor trained the the Philippines. Over the past 20 years She has worked as a General Practitioner with her own clinic, as well as serving as Assistant Medical Director for a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in Manila. Since moving to Northern VA, she has worked in pain management, allergy and physical therapy clinics as a Doctor’s assistant. But it was her experience with caring for her friends’ mother, and eventually her own mother, that brought her to Caring Considerations. As a Care Manager Assistant, Hebe works to improve quality of life for all of the aging clients and their families through home visits, communication and healthcare coordination. Hebe speaks English, Tagalog and a bit of Spanish.
Adriana is an Engagement Specialist with over 2 decades of experience in planning life enrichment programs in a variety of settings including adult-day health, senior living, community based organizations and in-home care. Her practice is grounded in the principals of building connections, respecting each individual and fostering moments of joy. She is also a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP). Adriana believes in supporting her community and volunteers on a regular basis at her child's school.
Linda Bowles, Care Manager Assistant
Linda is a retired R.N. who worked for over forty-five years as a hospital nurse, most recently at Medstar Georgetown Hospital. Linda also worked as an Occupational Health Nurse for the federal government. She was certified as a critical care nurse as well as a perianesthesia nurse. Linda is a mother of two daughters and a grandmother of four. Her goal is to help aging adults retain their autonomy in making life decisions while showing them respect and compassion.
Linda lives in Herndon and enjoys her book clubs, water aerobics, traveling, and volunteering.
Sandy Stait RN, Care Manager Assistant
Sandy is an RN with over 40 years of experience. She started her career in Critical Care at the University of Michigan, and then at Medstar Georgetown Hospital. She became certified as a peri anesthesia nurse while working at Georgetown in their ambulatory surgery center and later moved to Inova Fairfax Woodburn Ambulatory Surgery Center. Through her mother’s diagnosis of ALS and keeping her at home throughout her illness, Sandy learned first-hand the value of understanding what is important to each individual as they age and journey through their illnesses. As a Care Manager Assistant, she is excited to work with seniors and journey with them in this chapter of their life.
Sandy lives in Annandale is married and has two adult daughters. Her new hobby is learning floral design. She also volunteers weekly in her churches’ music program.
Statement of Goals
To help older adults find the right housing and care solutions by:
- Long-range planning, to prevent crises from occurring
- Assess resources so that they last as long as possible
- Strengthening clients and their families to allow them
to achieve the goals they have set for themselves
with the assistance of the Care Manager
- Using an interdisciplinary approach
that addresses all of the client's needs as fully as possible - Providing assistance in creating, implementing,
and monitoring a Plan of Care to continually meet goals - Providing assistance with choosing and monitoring of
alternative arrangements when remaining in the home
